So you have decided to
retire!
We hope
you are enjoying your retirement and would like you to think about joining the
BCRTA (British Columbia Retired Teachers’ Association) and our local Branch,
the EVRTA (Elk Valley Retired Teachers’ Association).
Membership
provides benefits and privileges, including opportunities to:
ü
participate in group
insurance plans: travel, home, life, and long term care;
ü
have input
into pension concerns and decisions through our representatives who deal with
the challenges of maintaining pension indexing and health benefits;
ü
support
educational projects in BC, throughout Canada, and abroad;
ü
have the
means by which to keep current on matters of the interest to retired teachers
through the BCRTA publication, Postscript, and through local branch
newsletters that report activities in our area;
ü
have
representation on the executive of ACER-CART (Canadian Association of Retired
Teachers) and affiliation with COSCO (Council of Senior Citizens' Organization),
which represent about 60,000 BC seniors and advocates on our behalf;
ü
engage in
branch activities which permit continuing contact with colleagues from your
working days as an educator.
In
summary, what
better way to:
Ø
enjoy
the companionship of former colleagues and working acquaintances,
Ø
use
your expertise to help seniors and
Ø
influence
decisions affecting your pension
than to join an organization that exists to "guard the interests and to promote the welfare" of retired educators throughout British Columbia?
