                               Minutes of the EVRTA Meeting on September 2^nd, 2008.

1. Jannice Caufield called the meeting to order at 10:09 AM. 
2. Twenty members were present, including 4 new members. 
3. The agenda was adopted, moved by Annette Harrison.
4. Karen Mader made a motion, seconded by Richard Pinotti, that we send a letter to Keith Coates thanking him for all his work for the EVRTA. The motion was carried..
5. The minutes of September 2007 were approved, seconded by Diane Stothers.
6. Jannice Caufield submitted a written Treasurer’s Statement:  Cash on hand-$590.98.
7.  New Business:

(a)    Len Kosiek made a motion that we move our TD Account to the East Kootenay Credit Union, seconded by Rose Watson.   The motion was carried.

(b)   Jannice Caufield suggested in her membership report that when both partners are teachers, that there be a special fee instead of both partners having to pay full provincial and local fees since we share information, magazine etc.

(c)    Since we have 34 members in our EVRTA, we qualify for a $100 for our local association.

8.   Reports:

(a)    Sunshine Fund:  Our balance in the fund is $85.   Diane Stothers will send flowers to

     Mary Menduk who has undergone a hip replacement operation.

(b) Heritage Committee:  The project on past schools is on display in the Fernie Museum,

     and the committee should decide if they want it to travel to the surrounding areas.   Rose

    Watson has the heritage file on hand   After some discussion Ray Hughes made a motion

     that we  re-vitalize the Heritage Committee, seconded by Karen Mader.  The motion was

     carried.

9. Election of  Officers:

                 Jannice Caufield – President

                  Richard Pinotti – Vice-president

                   Treasurer – Kathy Stead

                  Secretary – Cathleen Sonntag

10. After reminding us to take note of the social activities at the Legion, Mike Bruschetta moved

            that we  adjourn the meeting seconded by Diane Stothers.
