Relevant information for TTOC from
the Southeast Kootenay School Board
The stated intention of the employer is that all teachers will use the
call-out service to request a TTOC. It is the expectation that AO’s/secretaries
will follow the same process.
Teachers are to refrain from contacting TTOC’s directly and offering
them work.
TTOC’s, please refrain from accepting offers of work directly from your colleagues. Teachers do not hire and we do not fire TTOC’s. I advise all TTOC’s to direct teachers who are offering them work face-to-face to contact the call out service as per the employer’s directive.
It is the long standing policy of the FDTA that teachers do not provide the name(s) of ‘preferred TTOC’s’ to the Call out service. The Call out of TTOC’s in the Elk Valley/South Country should be on a fair and equitable rotational basis.
Sooner rather than later, TTOC’s record of work (for pay and seniority purposes) will be based on the records of the ‘call out service’. TTOC’s who accept work outside of the call out service will risk NOT BEING PAID FOR THE WORK THEY DO.
TTOC call out should be on a rotational basis, except for those who choose to not accept work in every school. There is a real possibility that those TTOC’s who create a narrow group of schools/grades/days etc that they are available for work may not have the same number of call out opportunities as those who offer to work in every school.

Tips For TTOC And Classroom Teachers
Working as a TTOC differs from “regular” teaching, but TTOCs will use all their training and then some. A TTOC handbook has been put together for the FDTA and is available at the FDTA office, or here for download.. This guidebook includes general information for the TTOC plus some specific information for TTOCs in the Elk Valley. What follows has been taken from the TTOC Handbook and relates to expectations and professionalism of both the TTOC and the classroom teacher.
