ELKFORD
At 1300 meters (4265 feet) Elkford has the highest elevation of any town in Canada. The construction of Elkford began in the early 70' and continues to grow today. The population is approximately 3300. The economic base of the town is coal mining. There are 3 coal mines in the immediate area with another 3 mines within a 45 minute drive.
Elkford is located along the Elk River between two mountain ranges immediately east of the Continental Divide in southeastern British Columbia, Canada.
