| Newgate Sandy Shores Resort offers a 250 acre (100 ha) campground and 100 acre (40 ha) day use area located near the Montana, USA border on the West shore of Lake Koocanusa, a 90 mile (145 km) long man-made reservoir in the South East corner of British Columbia. The area can be reached by two access roads of Highway #3, the West access road is from Jaffray, BC, 33 miles (55 km) East of Cranbrook, BC and the East access road is by Elko, BC, 20 miles (32 km) West of Fernie, BC, and by a third access road off Highway #93, 15 miles (24 km) North of the Montana border. These three roads converge at the Kikomun Creek Provincial Park, by proceeding past the Park 3 miles (5 km), crossing the bridge over Lake Koocanusa and turning left on the next road being the Kikomun-Newgate Road for another 23 miles (37 km) you will arrive at this beautiful wilderness campground. |
